The new FreegĂ´nes showroom opens in the Netherlands

On 17 January 2024, Renault Trucks, Bluekens EV, and Kleuster celebrated the inauguration of the new showroom dedicated to cargo bikes at the Bluekens EV Zero Emission Centre in Breda, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future. Attended by Peter Bakker, Breda city councillor responsible for climate and energy, the festive event underlines Renault Trucks’ commitment to sustainable urban mobility, contributing to the vision of a greener Breda.

Jaco Overbeeke, Managing Director of Bluekens Truck and Bus B.V., opened the ceremony by highlighting the joint efforts in favour of sustainable mobility. “This collaboration between Bluekens and Renault Trucks is a perfect example of how the industry can work together to deliver sustainable solutions that benefit our city and its residents,” said Mr Overbeeke.

Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks, then took the floor to underline the industry’s responsibility in the transition to a more sustainable future. “Renault Trucks’ mission is to provide our customers with efficient and sustainable mobility solutions that support an emissions-free future,” said Mr Blin.

Pierre-Louis Dumas, Technical Director of Kleuster, and JĂ©rĂ´me Berthelet, Managing Director of Renault Trucks Netherlands, also spoke at the ceremony.

Driven by the same mission of decarbonising professional mobility, Renault Trucks has established a synergistic and complementary partnership with Kleuster. This partnership will enable the manufacturer to share its expertise, industrial infrastructure and large-scale production capacity. The cargo bikes will be assembled at the heart of Renault Trucks’ industrial site in VĂ©nissieux. With this collaboration, Renault Trucks is extending its range of electric vehicles by offering solutions for the last mile.

The highlight of the ceremony was the official opening in the company of Peter Bakker, Alderman for Climate and Energy in Breda. He kicked off a cycle race between Pierre-Louis Dumas and Jaco Overbeeke. After an exciting 200-metre sprint, Alderman Bakker handed the scissors to the winner Pierre-Louis, who then cut the ribbon to officially open the exhibition hall.

To mark the opening of the cargo bike showroom, the partners have announced a sponsorship campaign. For three months, Renault Trucks, Kleuster, and Bluekens will sponsor a cargo bike for a local start-up or charity, helping to reduce CO2 emissions in Breda. Participants can nominate themselves via social media, and the winner will receive the cargo bike.

Renault Trucks, a leader in the transport sector since 1894, is confirming its commitment to sustainable mobility with the opening of this showroom. With a wide range of clean transport solutions and a focus on electric vehicles, the company is demonstrating that it takes its role in the energy transition seriously.
