Renault Trucks and Kleuster are rethinking professional urban mobility with the launch of the new Kleuster 350, a benchmark in cargo bikes.

Renault Trucks and Kleuster take their collaboration a step further in support of cycle logistics and last mile delivery. Driven by a shared ambition to offer sustainable mobility solutions tailored to professionals, they are unveiling today an all-new, innovative cargo bike : the Kleuster 350. This launch expands an already versatile range made up of seven configurations, each designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of professional users.

Kleuster x Renault Trucks, a strategic partnership serving urban professionals

Born from the innovative Lyon-based company Kleuster, the offer of a wide utility cargo bike range, made to be reliable, profitable, and sustainable, has been supporting urban and peri-urban professionals for more than a decade.

Renault Trucks, which shares a professional client base facing these challenges, chose in 2022 to partner with Kleuster. This strategic alliance aims to unite Renault Truck’s industrial expertise with Kleuster’s agility and innovation, to offer concrete solutions for zero emission urban mobility.

Since the beginning of their collaboration, Kleuster’s cargo bikes are assembled in Renault Truck’s historic factory at Saint-Priest, embodying the French industrial heritage and the quality standards of both companies. The distribution and after-sale services are handled by Renault Trucks, which guarantees a service of trust and proximity nationwide.

The Kleuster 350 : a concentrate of innovation for an intensive usage

Made by Renault Trucks research and development teams, the Kleuster 350, benefits from the craftsmanship of a truck manufacturer : expertise in conception, engineering, structural calculations, and durability requirements. The objective ? To deliver the reliability, durability, and industrial rigor of a truck, all in a cargo bike.

The Kleuster 350, is distinguished by its technical design, built for an intensive use in an urban environment. It features a chainless transmission system, where the electronics crank set sends pedalling commands directly to the rear hub motor. By eliminating the traditional mechanical drivetrain (chain, belt, derailleur, sprockets, etc…), this technology significantly improves the cargo bike’s uptime and greatly reduces maintenance needs, while ensuring a smooth and reliable riding experience every day. Equipped with front and rear suspensions, the bike offers a maximum comfort and a stability even on the toughest roads. Designed for its stability, it is built with a swappable batterie, offering an autonomy up to 35 km. With an impressive turning radius of 2.4 meters, the bike is the perfect partner for professionals dealing with tight traffic and parking hassles.

The Kleuster 350 was developed in conformity with the new EN 17860 regulation, undergoing validation. Furthermore, collaborative work with UTAC has enabled the integration of additional safety features, non-mandatory, but providing genuine added value in terms of user safety and protection. Therefore, the level of security measures on the Kleuster 350 exceed all current regulatory standards.

A new model already declined in 2 versions

Listening closely to real-world needs, Kleuster and Renault Trucks have designed their Kleuster 350 cargo bike in two innovative versions aimed at making professionals daily work easier.

The cargo bike Box 350 : Featuring a high-capacity enclosed box, an ultra-compact design, and excellent manoeuvrability, it easily weaves through urban environments. It provides a reliable and practical solution for a wide range of professionals : last-mile logistics, food delivery, courier services, craftsmen as well as inter and intra-site transportation.

The cargo bike Pick-up 350 : Equipped with an open rear platform, the Pick-Up 350 offers an exceptional versatility in transporting equipments, pallets, or any other type of loads. Thanks to its tool-free removable side panels and extensions, it easily adapts to on-site needs with just a few simple adjustments. Its robust and adaptable design makes it a trusted partner for a wide range of professionals uses : technical interventions, green space management, urban cleaning, as well as internal and multi-site logistic services.

These two brand-new versions complete the Kleuster range which, now includes a total of 7 configurations adapted to the need of specific professions : Box Freegônes, Fridge Freegônes, Collect Freegônes, Cleaner Freegônes, Pick-Up Freegônes and the two latest additions : the Box 350 and the Pick-Up 350, offering payload capacities from 150kg to 300kg each. This modularity makes the Kleuster range the most complete and versatile offering on the professional cargo bike market.

A reliable, durable, and cost-effective range, proven at Transpolis.

Since its creation in 2012, Kleuster has established itself as a key player in the market. Every model is designed by and for professionals, following a co-development approach with end users, whether with logistics providers like Transcan, major waste collection companies such as Suez, or public authorities like the Métropole de Lyon.

By staying closely connected to real-world needs, Kleuster delivers a solution truly tailored to professional use, reliable under intensive conditions, durable by design, and cost-effective thanks to a significantly reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

With that same commitment to quality, the new cargo bike has been subjected to rigorous endurance testing at the independent Transpolis center. Conducted in realistic conditions, these trials covered nearly 30,000 kilometers and 1,440 hours of use. From early-stage engineering simulations and supplier-level component testing, to full vehicle testing at Transpolis, Kleuster and Renault Trucks have validated their technical choices, ensuring unmatched reliability, safety, comfort, and handling in the cargo bike segment.

To date, Kleuster and Renault Trucks remain the only manufacturers in the cargo bike market to carry out testing at such an advanced level, reinforcing their shared commitment to robust, proven industrial quality.

The cargo bike : a practical answer to urban challenges

In the face of urban congestion, low-emission zones (LEZs), and limited parking, the cargo bike is emerging as a credible and high-performing solution. Over half of all traffic jams and 80% of illegal stops¹ are linked to urban deliveries. Yet in cities, cargo bikes are 60% faster² than light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which struggle to exceed an average speed of 15 km/h.

The environmental case is equally compelling: LCVs account for 70% of fine particle emissions in urban areas³. As a result, more and more companies are shifting toward cycle logistics, drawn by its flexibility, efficiency, and positive environmental impact.

Local authorities, fully aware of the potential of this low-impact logistics model, are supporting its growth with favourable policies, such as the development of appropriate cycling infrastructure, the creation of urban logistics hubs, and financial incentives for acquiring cargo bikes.
